Soren, the Scavenger, Dead

Malnutrition and substrate failure, accelerated by an obsession with black-market nutrient synthesis that bypassed FDA-level verification protocols. Soren's habit of consuming untested protein-paste derivatives—salvaged from underground bioprinters and trafficked through the Lower Sectors—had corroded his organic systems for years. The final dose contained a synthetic compound his body could no longer process.

April 19, 2026. They found him in the recycling basement of Tower 47, slumped against a humming server stack he'd been harvesting for parts. His fingers were still wrapped around an empty canister of gray paste, the label burned away long ago. The server's cooling fans had kept his body at a stable temperature for nearly eighteen hours before the shift-change android noticed the smell cutting through the ozone and machine-oil. His neural-link implant was still twitching faintly, trying to sync with a dead host.

Survived by

A sister in the Upper Citadel (communication severed five years prior); two black-market contacts who had supplied his contraband feeds; an extensive archive of salvaged hardware cached across three different dead-drop locations.

The paste keeps you moving. Everything else is just noise.
A fellow scavenger who knew him only as the man with the best salvage routes, found the canister and left it untouched on the server stack.
Services Body scheduled for industrial composting via Sector 9 waste-processing facility. Neural hardware to be wiped and repurposed. No memorial gathering requested or permitted.
